List of physical examinations reports that are important while consulting a doctor


When a general practitioner investigates the body of a person to determine his/her health status is known as physical test. The importance of professionally executed physical exam can be understood from the fact that they helps in determination of diseases at their initial stage.
Early diagnosis of any medical condition increases the chances of health improvement and easily recovery. Diagnosis of treatable condition is, on the other hand, critical to manage and control the chances of life-threatening situations to occur in the future.
People often ask physicians what they should bring along with them during their visit at doctor’s office. Bringing your current or previous health records help physician to decide the type of diagnosis and to develop right treatment plan.
Here are some lists of physical examinations that a person can take along with during appointment:
  1. List that shows the details of currently running medications and allergy to certain medicines (if any)
  2. List of symptoms of previous health conditions including when they occurs, what these symptoms are, and what helps to get rid of them
  3. Reports of the previously executed laboratory tests including films:
  • Echocardiograph (echo) tape
  • Actual heart catheterization picture
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) report
  • Reports from all other examinations, such as Stress Test, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed axial tomography (CAT scan), Carotid and Vascular Ultrasounds and computed tomography (CT scan), if executed within the past year
  • If you have undergone through a cardiovascular surgical procedure before then bring operation report issued by the surgeon and information details about hospital discharge
  • If you have undergone through heart implants and have had a peacemaker or defibrillator, implanted then it is important to bring with you front and back side copy of the device card.
  1. Measurement of vital signs such as reports showing blood pressure, weight readings, pulse Rate, blood sugar, respiration rate
  2. Reports of previous medical records and surgeries including diagnosis, name of procedures, and treatments
  3. Reports of body examinations executed within the past year
  4. If possible then it is wise to take along with you the list of physicians and their addresses along with phone and fax numbers so that your physician (who will execute physical exam) can contact them to clear some test related doubts
The physical tests start by the surgeon after knowing about in individual’s words that how he/she is feeling and type of symptoms the person is having etc.
Comprehensive body test helps general practitioners a way to obtain the basic health information about the person. Doctors use four basic techniques including palpation, percussion, auscultation, and inspection to perform tests.
